Los Angeles (Special to CESLasVegasNews.com) – Joe Lewis? Oscars? Who’s Joe Lewis? Now you probably saw Sunday’s broadcast of the LA Clippers game pitting the visiting Memphis Grizzlies against the other LA NBA team the Los Angeles Clippers, on ABC. Chances are you did not recognize the bald white guy standing up during what was a commercial break and yelling something. Well, most of America had no clue who he was, but I did. That’s because I have interviewed Oscars Head of Red Carpet Production Joe Lewis, several times at the Oscars and at the NFL Draft Red Carpet. So, what did I do when I recognized him? I vlogged about it:
But what does Joe do in full? Well, he said it in the video, but for those of you text inclined, here’s that. This entry explains:
I am in charge of all broadcast and physical production for the red carpet and pre-show, which is everything outside the doors before you come into the Dolby Theatre®. That includes infrastructure, crew, creative, security, logistics, permits, trucking, broadcast, network, power… I touch every element of it in some capacity.
I typically start the week we load in the previous year. You’re looking at logistics, you’re looking at schedules, you’re looking at ways to find efficiencies, you’re looking at the crew in place, you’re looking at processes and procedures. You’re really just analyzing and scrutinizing the way you do business in a particular year to try to do it better.
And he, Joe Lewis, is the Partner and Founder of The Joe Lewis Company, which is a “multinational event and experiential production company. We offer a range of solutions including experiential strategy, content + event production, fundraising, and brand marketing, to meet the needs of a diverse clientele including the Oscars, Disney, NFL, Warner Brothers, Netflix, Grammys and more.”
One thing that I can say about Joe Lewis, is he’s one of the most important people in American Culture, yet he flies under the radar with ease. Joe hides in plain site, but for over a decade has been responsible for the very look of the iconic Oscars Red Carpet. And let’s not forget the NFL Draft Red Carpet…
Joe Lewis is a legend in American Culture. Don’t forget his name or the Joe Lewis Company.
Stay tuned.
